Skin scraping or cupping is a traditional Chinese therapy performed using tools like ox horn, jade or cupping jars. After applying some oil or liniment on the body, our therapist uses any of these tools to scrape relevant parts of the skin.

The scraping is done with a few repeated strokes till a small red or purple spots appear. These spots are called ‘sha’ and take a few days to resolve. Each color signifies different conditions in the recipient.

However the skin does not change color on areas where the tissue that has no pathogen underneath. While there may be some soreness for a few days, the tissue underneath experiences lots of relief after scraping.

The principle followed with skin scraping is that it helps channel and activate blood circulation to slowly make the body’s blood statis disappear. With regular scraping it is also possible to adjust the body’s qi levels, relieve fatigue and improve one’s overall body immunity.
